January is nearly gone and another Valentines day will soon be on us. I found this photo of my youngest son Jared from last school year at the Valentines dance and decided to post it to commemorate Valentines.

Louis Brandeis Quote
"The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in incidious encroachment by men of zeal, well meaning but without understanding." I love this quote! I was comissioned in the 1990s to create a hand painted needle point canvas with this quote and a border for a customer to stitch up for her husband's law practice. I have expressed this quote with many people over the years and decided to to change it from needlepoint to cross - stitch and made this for a gift for a friend's office. I hope he will like it.
Mill Hill Ornament
Mill Hill has some lovely Christmas ornaments. This one was created using perferated paper.
Christmas stocking
I made this stocking for my oldest son.
"Shoo Fly"
This is an old pattern design dating back in the early to mid 1800's but the fabrics I chose to use for the blocks are 1930 reproduction fabrics and the sashing is modern era fabrics. They all seem to work well together for this quilt top. I say quilt top because this is not yet a layered or quilted quilt. I have the supplies to finish it but have not had the desire as right now I am busy with sock knitting =)
"Sunrise"
I made this small quilt as a gift to my former church. I created it from my own artwork and even hand dyed some of the fabrics to achieve the desired colors. The entire quilt top was hand appliqued and then the quilt was quilted on my sewing machine as I was running out of time. We displayed the quilt for the Easter Sunrise service and it remained on display until Pentecost.
Fun Fur ankle cuff socks
These were really fun and a fun way to add some zip to a basic sock. I simply chose to add the novelty fun fur yarn with the white sport weight yarn and knitted them together for the ribbed K1,P1 cuffs. I really like the effect and they are just as furry on the inside as they are on the outside which is perfect for these long cold winter days. I used a yarn darning needle to weave the loose ends of the yarn into ribbed cuff area to bury the loose ends.
Basic Ankle cuff socks
These are just a plain simple little sock that are quick and fun to make. This photo does not due justice to the actual yarn that was used as it has a sheen to the yarn that looks dull in the photo.
"Tulips"
This is a very, very small wall quilt. I hand appliqued the tulip design which I found in a book titled "101 Applique patterns" and added the half square triangle border then finished it out with the green border with small tulips hand quilted. In fact the whole piece is hand quilted. While not being a big or fancy quilt it is a "happy" quilt. Looking at it makes me smile. =)
